My experiments with AI

A software engineers journal

About

My Experiments with AI is where I explore the cutting edge of artificial intelligence through hands-on experimentation and thoughtful analysis. As a Senior Software Development Engineer at Amazon Web Services working on agentic AI systems, I’m fortunate to be at the forefront of AI innovation.

What You’ll Find Here

This blog chronicles my journey through the rapidly evolving AI landscape—from vector databases and contextual retrieval systems to autonomous agents and the future of human-AI collaboration. I write about:

  • AI Architecture & Design: Building intelligent systems that can reason, plan, and act autonomously
  • Search Technology Evolution: The shift from keyword matching to semantic understanding through vectors
  • Agentic AI Systems: Software that thinks, learns, and collaborates with humans
  • Real-World AI Applications: Practical implementations and lessons learned from the field
  • The Human-AI Interface: How we can build systems that enhance rather than replace human capabilities

Why I Write

The pace of AI advancement is breathtaking—new models, frameworks, and capabilities emerge almost daily. This blog is my way of processing this rapid evolution, sharing insights with the community, and documenting the experiments that shape our understanding of what’s possible.

I believe in the power of hands-on experimentation. Theory is important, but there’s something transformative about building with these technologies, encountering their quirks and limitations, and discovering unexpected capabilities.

About Me

I’m Jeyanthi Thangiah, a software engineer with over two decades of experience building complex systems. Currently, I’m part of AWS’s Agentic AI organization, where I design and implement AI pipelines that transform how organizations deliver value. My work spans from building contextual knowledge extraction systems to orchestrating multi-agent workflows that can handle complex, multi-step processes.

The future of AI isn’t just about building smarter machines—it’s about building better partnerships between human intelligence and artificial intelligence.
